C.S. & Nash

Hey friends! This is a very short post but I just wanted to share a few quotes and a song. C.S. Lewis seems to always say it exactly right. Can we agree? I love it. What a comfort. Speaking of comfort, I swear every time I see my niece or a photo of her my heart just stops and she makes me remember {to remember} all that is important in life. She has no idea she does this to me, but she does. She keeps me grounded and hopeful. What a gift that baby girl is. Love her to the moon & back. She turned 9 weeks old yesterday... :) Below is her 9 week glamour shot. Gaw - what an expression. Melts my heart...

There are far, far better things ahead than any we leave behind.

You never know how much you really believe anything until its truth or falsehood becomes a matter of life and death to you.

The sweetest thing in all my life has been the longing — to reach the Mountain, to find the place where all the beauty came from — my country, the place where I ought to have been born. Do you think it all meant nothing, all the longing? The longing for home? For indeed it now feels not like going, but like going back.

:::Today's Favorites::::

Hey.............. this is a daydreaming post. Ya'll should day dream too..... :) I hope everyone is having a good Tuesday. Here are my "Today's" - enjoy!

Today's quote:

“If you’re going to try, go all the way. Otherwise, don’t even start. This could mean losing girlfriends, wives, relatives and maybe even your mind. It could mean not eating for three or four days. It could mean freezing on a park bench. It could mean jail. It could mean derision. It could mean mockery–isolation. Isolation is the gift. All the others are a test of your endurance, of how much you really want to do it. And, you’ll do it, despite rejection and the worst odds. And it will be better than anything else you can imagine. If you’re going to try, go all the way. There is no other feeling like that. You will be alone with the gods, and the nights will flame with fire. You will ride life straight to perfect laughter. It’s the only good fight there is.”

– Charles Bukowski

Today's Ideal Scenario:

Wake up in a cozy home in Seattle . It's raining. Go for a long rainy jog on a deserted street. Make coffee and Green juice. Long hot bubble bath {in a really cool old fashioned tub...}. Cozify on the couch with my lap top, magazines, new J.Crew and some hummus, pretzels, and ddp. Work a bit/blog a bit/listen to some tunes. Take a nap. Take a train to Pike's market and get some fresh fish, veggies & flowers. Grill some fish/cook dinner. Put on my boots, coat, scarf and beanie. Go see a show... {like I'm pretty sure Ryan Adams would be playing a secret show at this really cool pub and I was the first one to know about it... so I was front row... ;)}. Meet some friends for that. Nice walk home after. Jump in bed. Repeat.

Just daydreaming..... :) I hope ya'll have a good Tuesday.

BOB / FANG / BABE

Good Greets ya'll! IT'S FINALLY FRIDAY! wooo hooo! Big plans this weekend? I have big plans... a super fun bachelorette party saturday, and before that.... Bob Schneider acoustic show tonight with my guuuuuurl Veronica. I don't know much of him, but what I do know of, I really like. :) Plus the venue is pretty incredible. And I love seeing musicians live with friends who are just SO OBSESSED with them... like, I want to see what he is all about because he just melts my friend V's heart and I'd like to see that! And hey.... I want my heart to melt, too. Here is a video just in case you don't know of BOB. Also, I hear he is funny. Bonus!

Next up is this group called, "Fang Island" - I just heard of them today from someone with a very good ear & taste {of or in} music.... so I gave it a go and I just love it. It is suggested that you listen to the album from start to finish... which I did and it's pretty captivating if I do say so myself...  and it gets better with every round. I think I'm on round 5. Give it a shot. Here are two of my favorites.

And last but most certainly not least.......... baby lady pics... :)

"what's happenin ya'll?
 I'm just in the most relaxing  position ever, so what?
... just being a baby lady..."

Baby love. 2 month shots today for this tough girl! :)

Have a fantastical weekend, ya'll! HB

Thrones / Colorado / Lookout

Hello my friends... :)

It's thursday! Who's excited?! Me! I have started the HBO series, "Game of Thrones" and I can't wait to spend the entirety of my Thursday evening curled up on my couch with this show. I have only watched one episode but I'm hooked. Who knew that blood, guts, violence, boobs, and "bootay" would be so appealing?? .... oh HBO, you do ya thang. =O My friend Heather gave me the entire season 1 yesterday {which she has in her possession totally legally... ha!} ... so I figured she would be a good one to converse with after my nightly watches - and I was right. I came in this morning, telling her how sad I was that at the end of episode one this cute little boy got pushed out of this window and fell to his death......and what did Heather say? She said, " Haley, he doesn't really die. Just wait." So that made me happy and thrilled to continue the season. On to the next one.... :)

So, I will go ahead and start my ONE WEEK countdown til meeting up with my family in the mountains. I don't know what it is about that place that I love so much in the summer. It could be the mountains... nice fresh air.... afternoon rain showers.... hiking.... etc... but I think the thing I like most is being with my family... it's like going home even though it's not really where I grew up... and also knowing that I don't have a schedule. We are a "free for all" kind of group and everyone just kind of does their own thing. My dad rides his bike usually every morning then retires to the back porch to read and snooze.... my mom, sister, and I like to go on walks and read {this time there will probably be lots of baby holding!!!} and look through catalogs and magazines and cook yummy food {like spaghetti, tacos, and burgers!},  my BIL likes to take photos and stay active, although I think last year he took his first nap ever... {probably because nothing is better than a nap in the mountains}, and then my brother likes to go fishing and read by the stream. So it's nice... we all just sort of RELAX. This time will be a little different because we will have our sweet little baby girl with us!!!! So since she's never been there we are all going to have to show and tell her all about it. Can't hardly wait. :) Here are some photos from last year...

The stream across from our neighborhood...
start of my days on the porch reading w/ a cup o coffee....
Hiking up Montezuma
Claire taking a snooze - nothing better than that! Ha!
{you're welcome for taking this of you sleeping, sister...}
I decided to take a seat in the middle on the river on some
 rocks during my hike and get some tan on my face... so this is that.
 {also I was going for a cool Merrell ad... ha.}

Well that's really all I have to say today. I hope whoever reads this is doing wonderful and you are having a good day. It FINALLY rained in Texas!!!!!!!!! It's a miracle! ;)

I will end with this verse that I came across from this gals blog that I am obsessed with. She's so cool and has SUCH a precious family. Religious or not... I hope this touches your soul in some way... I usually don't bust out this sort of thing because for me, religion is so personal... but I couldn't help but share.

Instead of striving for a predictable, safe lifestyle, seek to know Me in greater depth and breadth. I long to make your life a glorious adventure, but you must stop clinging to old ways. I am always doing something new with My beloved ones. Be on the lookout for all that I have prepared for you.

Thanks for poppin ova! HB
